织就丝绸古道，

说不尽沿途风华。

说到中国的丝绸，可谓历史悠久。

Silk, or sīchóu, refers to textiles made from natural protein fiber generated by silkworms. The earliest silk-making activities in China can be dated back to the Neolithic age. And for some 2,000 years, silk was only produced and used within China.

“丝绸”指用蚕分泌出的动物纤维制成的丝织品。中国最早的丝绸制作可以追溯到新石器时代。在长达两千多年的时间里，丝绸只在中国国内生产和使用。

Thanks in large part to the development and prosperity of the Silk Road, silk is appreciated by people from all over the world.

丝绸能走向世界，很大程度上得益于丝绸之路的开辟与繁荣。

As an ancient network of trade routes that brought together the East and West, the Silk Road derives its name from the lucrative trade in silk carried out along its length, beginning in the Han Dynasty (202 BC–220 AD).

由于丝绸贸易频繁、利润丰厚，自汉代（前202年—220年）起，这条连接古代东方与西方的商贸路线就以“丝绸”命名，“丝绸之路”应运而生。

The Silk Road refers to both the terrestrial and maritime routes connecting Asia with Africa and Europe.

“丝绸之路”包括陆上丝绸之路和海上丝绸之路，用以连接亚洲、非洲和欧洲地区。

The Han Dynasty expanded the Central Asian div of the trade routes around 139 BC through the missions and explorations of the Chinese imperial envoy Zhang Qian.

约公元前139年，汉朝派遣使者张骞出使西域，扩张了这条贸易之路的中亚部分。

Though silk was the major trade item exported from China, many other goods were traded, as well as religions, philosophies and technologies.

尽管丝绸是从中国出口最多的货物，还有很多其他的货物也通过此路进行交换。除此以外，宗教、哲学、科学技术也经此路得以传播。

After its long prosperity in ancient times, the Silk Road has been given a new symbolic significance for a closely knit regional economy.

在古代，丝绸之路盛极一时。如今，它被赋予了象征区域经济紧密结合的新内涵。

The Belt and Road Initiative, or the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21stCentury Maritime Silk Road, is a development initiativeproposed in 2013 by the Chinese government which focuses on connectivity and cooperation of the world.

“一带一路”，即“丝绸之路经济带”和“21世纪海上丝绸之路”，是2013年中国政府提出的宏大倡议，重点关注世界各国之间的联结与合作。

China's total trade with countries along the Belt and Road in the past five years exceeded 5 trillion U.S. dollars.

“一带一路”倡议提出5年来，我国与沿线国家货物贸易累计超过5万亿美元。

As of July 2018, more than 100 countries and international organizations had signed Belt and Road cooperation documents with China, extending the initiative's scope from the Eurasian continent to Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the South Pacific region.

截至今年7月，全球100多个国家和国际组织同中国签署共建“一带一路”合作文件，签署范围自亚欧大陆拓展至非洲、拉美和加勒比地区、南太平洋地区。

可见，“丝绸之路”是中华民族的宝贵财富，古代的“丝绸”具有非常深远的历史意义。

而如今，纵使时光千年飞逝，人们对丝绸产品的喜爱程度仍未减退……
